About MICAT :

MICA formerly known as Mudra Institute of Communications ,Ahemdabad Established in 1991. Mudra Institute of Communication Admission Test (MICA) is online entrance exam test for MICA's owned course that is Post Graduate Diploma in Management-Communications(PGDM-C). This programme targets on Strategic Marketing and Communication and the specializations include:

- Advertising Management

- Media Management

- Brand Management

- Marketing Research and Analytics

- Digital  Communication and Management 

MICAT is conducted in two stages. MICAT I will held in December and MICAT II will be in February.

 

MICAT Syllabus:

Candidates who are planning to take the admission at MICA, Ahemdabad they must go through MICAT 2020 syllabus . It will give them an idea of the topics and subjects which they need to prepare. MICAT syllabus has been set same as that of other top management exams like CAT, MAT, etc. There no major changes have been made MICAT syllabus and pattern for this year.

Based on the previous year paper we have described below the section-wise topics.  The paper is divided into 2 broad areasPaper 1 contains 4 descriptive type questions and Paper 2 contains objective types of questions. The sectional distribution of questions is as follow:

Syllabus for Paper 1

Writing Ability is one of the major areas where a candidate’s ideas can be approached right at its source. 

  • It judges candidates based on their views on a particular topic.
  • Here in this part, the candidates are given the topic and candidate has to write both for and against the topic.
  • But the conclusion has to be one dimensional that has to either support or oppose the motion. Not taking a stance would mean that one would not be marked for the essay writing and will also show lack of conviction in the ideas portrayed. 
  • In this section the next question is based on picture composition.
  • On the basis of pictures given in the question, the students have to write a story.

 

Syllabus for Paper 2

The MICAT syllabus divided into two parts. First part includes Psychometric test and second part includes questions on Reasoning, G.K, Verbal Ability, Quant's and Divergent-Convergent Reasoning.

Part 1

This section differs from other management entrance exams. Some of the key aspects of psychometric test  are discussed below :

  • The test duration will be 30minutes.
  • Usually the psychometric  test are divided into 3 different sets of questions.

1. First set had 30 statements from which candidates need to pick the 10 best qualities associated with their own personalities. 

2. Candidates have to choose from a set of 2 arguments and give a rating on the basis of closeness to their personality.

3. In the third set, candidates to give a rating on the scale of 1 to 6 for the responses under a certain scenario in terms of their priority.

  • The paper primarily aims to appraise candidate's personality and verify whether he/she is fit to be part of MICAT.
  • The exam is designed to check student's thought process and understanding of various problem-solving principles.

Part 2

Reasoning:

  • This section comprises of the topics i.e. Word Association, Visual Reasoning, Data Sufficiency and Statement Conclusion.
  • It includes 35 questions with 5 answer options for all the questions.
  • The candidates are judged on their analytical abilities in this section.

 

General Awareness:

MICA trains its students not only in management abilities but also according to the current demands and requirements of the world. This section includes 25 questions with 4 options for every question. Some of the topics for candidates for preparation:

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate who are applying for MICAT 2020 must check  MICAT eligibility criteria before applying to the exam.

  • He or she must have completed a minimum of 15 years of education in the format of 10+2+3.
  • The graduation degree in any stream will be considered applicable.
  • Candidate must have completed his or her bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • Students  who are in the final year of their bachelor’s degree can also apply for MICAT 2020.
  • Foreign Nationals and NRI category candidates are eligible only if they have a valid foreign passport along with valid GMAT/XAT/CAT scores. They can apply under the foreign nationals’ category.
  • Candidate should have valid score in anyone of the following entrance exam namely CAT, XAT and GMAT (onwards).
  • Final result (composite score) for admission shall be created based on the following weightage:

Q. Can I know something about MICA?

A. MICA formerly known as Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahemdabad. It is established in 1991 and a residential institute dedicated to creating leadership in Strategic Marketing and Communication. MICA is an autonomous and  non-profit institution.

A.  The maximum intake for PGDM-C is 180 students.

 

Q. Which entrance test scores are accepted by MICA for admission into PGDM (C) and PGDM programs?

A. Each candidate has to take at least one of the three exams: CAT 2019, XAT 2020 and GMAT. Apart from taking one these exams, all applicants need to take MICAT.

 

Q.When will MICAT exam be conducted? What is the application fee?

A. MICAT is a Computer Based Test (CBT) and will be conducted twice for selection of PGDM-C and PGDM 2020-2022 batches.

Admission Process

Step I :MICAT Application form

To apply for the exam, students  need to fill the registration form and pay the test fees of Rs 1965 online.

The registration form can be accessed online on the official website. After successful registration, candidates will receive an email containing the MICA ID and MICA password. This MICA ID will be used for all future communication and login purposes.

Step II : MICAT Admit card

The candidates who has registered and met the eligibility criteria successfully will be issued admit card for MICAT 2019-20.Selected candidate will be required to download their admit cards from the official website.

Step III : MICAT Exam

MICAT will be conducted two times  in a particular admission cycle. The candidates will be tested on Verbal Ability, Psychometric, General Awareness, Quantitative Ability, Divergent-Convergent Reasoning and Descriptive Test.

Step III: MICAT Result

MICAT result will be announced online on the official website. Candidate  can check their scores by using their login ID. Post the result, selected candidates will be invited for GE/PI at different MICA campuses.

Step IV: Group Exercise / Personal Interview

Short listing of GE/PI candidates will be done on the basis of MICAT-1 and /or 2 or better of the two scores if a candidate has taken both MICAT I and MICAT II.

Exam Day Guidelines :

  • Don’t forget to hold a print out of your admit card. Digital, scanned or photocopy of the admit card is not  acceptable as valid document.
  • Reach your exam centre 1 hour before the reporting time.
  • Do not carry any electronic things  to the exam venue. You are also advised to not carry valuable items.
  • Along with the MICAT admit card, carry a photo ID as a secondary identity proof. You can carry any of the following documents as your ID proof :
