XAT 2017 Result Analysis and XLRI cut offs; check your chance in top MBA colleges

XAT 2017 result analysis tells that low scorers have got high percentile and the candidates with marks between 22 to 35 are shortlisted by XLRI while you can check expected cut offs in other top B-schools

After declaring the XAT 2017 Result on January 25, a week ahead of the scheduled date, XLRI has made public the cut offs in different PGDM programmes and has announced the shortlists. The candidates who scored 96 percentile in XAT 2017 have been considered for flagship PGDM-BM in XLRI. The individual messages to shortlisted candidates will be sent by XLRI in a day or two.

XAT 2017: No one with exact 100 percentile

XAT 2017 has not awarded 100 percentile even to the highest scorer in the exam. The score has been ranked at 99.9+ percentile. As per the different percentile calculation method in XAT 2017 no candidate has scored 100 percentile. According to XAT official, “Our percentile calculation is slightly different and the topper does not score hundred percentile.”

XAT 2017: No Negative percentile

XAT 2017 has also not awarded negative percentile. According to XAT official “All students got positive percentiles (There is no possibility of negative percentile)”. It means that no candidate can get negative scores as per the score normalization process adopted in XAT 2017.

Result 7 days ahead of schedule

XAT 2017 result was proposed to be declared on January 31, 2017 but XLRI has declared it on January 25, 2017.

XAT 2017 scoring pattern

XAT 2017 was divided in 2 parts and was to be attempted in 210 minutes. The first part with 3 sections in XAT 2017 had 72 questions and had to be attempted in 170 minutes. All the questions were in Multiple Choice form (MCQs). Answers to these 72 questions have been taken into account to calculate the sectional as well as the overall percentile score. The correct answer to each of these 72 questions carried a score of one mark and wrong answer attracted the penalty of 1/4 negative mark.

Another significant change in XAT 2017 scoring pattern has been that a penalty of 0.05 mark per question was applied, in case the test taker left more than 12 questions unattempted. This has also turned the table in favour of the test takers who kept in mind this fact.

The XAT 2017 cut offs in top MBA colleges namely SPJIMR, IMT, XIMB among others will also be announced shortly. Going by the XAT result analysis during past years, we give below the cut offs in top MBA colleges accepting XAT 2017 scores.

XLRI announces cut offs

The sectional cut-offs and overall cut offs for different programs of XLRI have been announced.. The emails/letters/messages to the shortlisted candidates will be sent in 2-3 days' time.

Admission process at IMT Ghaziabad with XAT 2017 is open till February 5, 2017. The B-school accepts both CAT and XAT scores. More number of candidates than last year are expected to be shortlisted and admitted on the basis of XAT 2017 scores at IMT Ghaziabad

XAT 2017 most transparent exam

To avoid any chance of grumbling by the test takers, XLRI has taken care to keep XAT 2017 as the most transparent exam. Not only the answer sheets of all the question sets were made available to the test takers but also each of the test takers was allowed to download the individual OMR answer sheet for XAT 2017 exam.

The answer sheet contained all the correct and incorrect answers which enabled the candidates to assess their performance and expected score in XAT 2017 by calculating the scores as per the pre-announced scoring formula.

Low scores fetched high percentile

XAT 2017, held on January 8, 2017 did not offer much easier test as promised by XLRI even after bringing out significant changes. A score between 22 to 35 marks in XAT 2017 has led to the percentile range between 75 to 96 paving the way for the test takers to search for the good MBA/PGDM programmes beginning 2017.

There are 153 B-schools who will be accepting XAT 2017 scores. More than 50000 candidates are proposed to get admission in these B-schools with their XAT 2017 scores. XAT 2017 scores have provided good opportunity to the candidates who have not been able to score very good scores in CAT 2016 and are in search for a good B-school.
