Q: For how many times is a CMAT exam held in a year?

A: No. From year 2018-19, the CMAT exam will be conducted only once a year on in January. The CMAT-2020 will be conducted on January, 2020.The exam is held in two sessions - forenoonand afternoon. The forenoon session is held from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and the afternoon session is held between 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm.

 

Q: Who will convene CMAT 2019?

A: CMAT 2019 will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA)on January, 2020.

 

Q. Will I be able to give the test from any computer?
A. No. A candidate will have to test on a pre-assigned workstation and will not have a choice to choose his or her digital computer, in the testing venue.

 

Q. How CMAT is different from other entrance exams?

A. Regardless of being a Computer-based test, CMAT is not an online exam. It is a digital or Computer primarily Based Test (CBT); not an Internet-Based Test (IBT). A candidate won’t take the exam on an online website. Rather than reading the questions in a paper booklet and darkening the ovals on the answer-sheet, a candidate will read the questions on a computer portal and choose an answer by clicking on the correct option.

 

Q. How is the computer-based test format different from the paper-based test format?

A. In the computer-based test format, the candidate reads a question on a computer portal and clicks on the correct answer. Also, the clock on the computer screen tells you the remaining time to complete the current section.

In the paper-based test format, the candidate reads a question on a paper booklet and uses a pencil to darken the ovals on an answer sheet. Also, a clock will be shown on the screen that tells you how many more minutes to complete the current section.

 

Test Duration & CMAT Syllabus/ Pattern

Q. How many sections are there in CMAT 2019?

A. There will be four sections in the CMAT. The sections are:

  • Logical Reasoning
  • Verbal Ability / Language Comprehension
  • Numerical Ability + Data Interpretation
  • General Awareness

 

Q. How many questions are there in every section?
A. There will be 25 questions in each section, and the total number of questions asked is 100.

 

Q. What is the duration of CMAT 2019 exam? Is there sectional time to attempt the exam?

A. CMAT 2019 will have time duration of 180 minutes. No, there is no sectional time to attempt the exam.

 

Q. What is the marking/grading scheme for CMAT? Is there negative marking for a wrong answer?

A. For questions apart from MCQs, 4 marks are assigned for ‘correct answer’ and no marks for ‘incorrect answer or no attempt'.

For Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) the marking scheme is as follows:

  • Each correct answer is awarded 4 marks.
  • An incorrect answer fetches -1.

Q. Is there a particular order for answering sections? Can I attempt sections the way I want?

A. No, There is no particular order for answering sections. Yes, you can attempt any sections you want without any sectional time limit.

 

Q. Can I move back and forth between any of the four sections?
A. Yes, you can.

 

Scheduling ,Registration& Eligibility

 

Q. Who is eligible to take the test? 
A. A candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA and 45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Person with Disability (PWD) categories is eligible to register and apply for CAT 2019. The degree must be awarded by any University or educational institution as incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State law-makers in India or declared to be deemed as a University underneath Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess a similar qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

 

Q. Is there any equivalent qualification to bachelor’s degree?
A. Candidates must have any similar qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India (including the Associate Membership Examination (AMICE) of the Institution of Civil Engineers (India) as an equivalent qualification).

 

Q. I am studying in the final year of bachelor’s degree. Can I apply for CMAT 2019?
A. Yes, Candidates showing up for the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent course and candidates who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results may also apply.

Q. Can I appear for CMAT for practice basis, although I am aware that I am not eligible?
A. No, anyone who is not eligible cannot appear for this test.

 

Q.  What is CMAT 2019 exam date? Will I be able to choose an exam date as per my preference?
A. The CMAT exam will be held on January 2020, in two sessions - morning and afternoon. Based on your selection of preferred test city, NTA allot the session slot, test city, and test center, subject to availability but you will not be allowed to choose the preferred

Q: Is there an age limit to appear in CMAT exam?

A: No, there is no age limit to appear in the exam. Any candidate who is a Graduate or is in the final year of Graduation is eligible to apply for CMAT.

 

Q. I have not completed my Bachelor’s /I am in final year of Bachelor’s. What marks do I need to get eligible for filling in the Application form?
A. As per the CMAT 2019 eligibility criteria, you must provide the Aggregate Percentage marks of the last marks sheet received from the University.

 

Q. My University/Institute does not award marks, instead CGPA is mentioned. How do I convert it into marks?
A. The Aggregate percentage of marks obtained by the candidate would be calculated based on the practice as followed by the respective University/Institution. In case of grades / CGPA, the conversion to aggregate percentage of marks would be based on the procedure as certified by the respective University/ institution. If any University/institution confirms that there is no scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA, and multiplying the result with 100.

 

Q. I complete my Bachelor’s degree in May-June 2019 but have backlog, am I eligible to apply for CMAT 2019?
A. Yes, as per the CMAT 2019 eligibility criteria, candidates completing their degree by May 2020 are eligible to appear for CMAT 2019. However, the candidate should confirm “YES” to the question “Are you in the final year of Bachelor Degree”.

 

Q. What is the fee for the test?
A. The fee for CMAT 2020 is Rs.1400 + Bank charges as applicable for General / OBC candidates. Candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PD (Physically disabled) category then you needs to pay a discounted fee of Rs.700 + Bank charges as applicable.
 

Q. How can I pay the CMAT exam fee?
A. You could pay the CMAT exam fee online. Use a valid credit card, debit card, or net banking facility.


Q. When and how do I register for CMAT 2019?

Q. When do I get my CMAT 2019 Admit Card?
A. The Admit card for CMAT 2019 will be released by NTA on First week of January, 2020. The Admit Card remains available on the website for view and print till CMAT exam day. The Admit card is issued for those candidates only whose online application form gets submitted successfully. Candidates will receive an automated email confirmation upon successful submission. You can then log into the CMAT website using your registered User ID and password to view/print the Admit card.

 

Q. Has the CMAT Admit Card been sent as a hard copy or by mail?
A. The Admit card will be available on the CMAT website only. You may log in using your CMAT 2019 User ID to view/print the Admit card.

 

Q. Do I need to carry the Admit card to exam center?
A. Yes, the Admit Card is a mandatory document required to take the exam. You must print the Admit Card and bring it along to the exam center on the day of the exam. The candidate have to paste an identical photograph on the admit card which he/she scanned while filling the CMAT registration form.

  

Q. If I did not receive my Admit Card, whom should I contact?
A. The Admit Card will be available directly on the CMAT website using your User ID and Password. You will be notified at the time of release of admit card. If you are unable to view your Admit Card after logging in, contact the CMAT Helpdesk.

 

Q. What are the details mentioned in the Admit Card?
A. The admit card contains the Photo, Name and Signature of the Candidate,CMAT Roll Number, Test Date, Reporting time at the Venue, Venue Name, Venue Address and brief instructions for the candidate, User ID/ Registration number, PWD status.


Note: Admit Card is a mandatory in order to take the test. You must bring a print out copy of your Admit Card to the test centre.

Changing of preferred test city

Q. Can I change my preferred test city after the submission my form?
A. No. Data cannot be changed once the form is submitted.

Q. If I do not take the test, will I be eligible by any chance for a refund?
A. No. Your fees will not be refunded in case you do not appear for your test as per your scheduled location, date and time.

A. No, you will not be given any breaks while writing the test.

Q. Will I be given any scratch paper for rough work and calculations during the test?
A. At the test center, each candidate will be seated at a desk with a computer portal and he/she will be given with a rough paper for calculations. Rough work cannot be done on any other sheet, as nothing will be allowed inside the testing room. On completion of the test, candidates will have to hand over all the rough paper to the Administrator.

 

Documents Required At the Test Centre


Q. What are the identification documents required to the test centre?
A. Candidates must bring the following documents on the test day:

 

  1. CMAT 2020 Admit Card with recent passport sized photo pasted on it.
  2. At least one original (not photocopied / scanned copy) for photo identification. The name on your photo identification must match your name as entered in the CMAT application form. Acceptable forms of photo identification types are Driver's license, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, UID card or a notarized Affidavit (in English) with Photo, Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Address. Photocopies of the original are unacceptable. Candidates will not be permitted to take the test if photo identification is not matched.
  3. Notarized copy of 10th Mark sheet or equivalent Important: Admit Card and one photo identification, mentioned above, are mandatory in order to take test.

 

(Note: You will have to submit all other personal items at the test center at your own risk. Please do not bring any precious items to the test centre, as they are not permitted into the testing centre).

Q. Does the name should to match with the names appearing on the identification documents?
A. Yes. Your name needs to be exactly identical to the name on your 10th Mark sheet or equivalent.

(Note: - If the name has been changed due to events such as marriage than you must show the relevant document mentioned below and submit a photocopy at the time of the test, interview and at the time of joining a program

  • Marriage Certificate,
  • Divorce Decree,
  • Legal Name Change Document)

 

Q. What are the materials permitted to bring along with me to the test centre?
A. None. You will not be permitted to bring any personal items to the test centre such as wrist-watch, cell phones, calculators, etc.

 

Results 
 

Q. When will CMAT 2019 result be declared?

A. CMAT 2019 exam result will be declared in the last week of February 2020.

 

Q. Will I be able to see my scores on the test day?

Q. If I have done my graduation through PART TIME or DISTANCE LEARNING MODE, am I eligible to apply for CMAT 2020 exam?

A. CMAT has been designed to check all the candidates who appear in the test based on their attitude towards the management education in the order of their merit/rank. The objective of the test is not to eliminate the candidates from the process of seeking admission in the AICTE approved management programmes, rather to facilitate the institutions to select the suitable candidates as per their merit/rank.
 

Q. Can I give CMAT exam via paper pencil mode later if by any chance I missed the online examination?
A. CMAT is a computer based online exam scheduled in January 2020. It cannot be taken in paper-pencil mode.
